I am casting a Japanese short that is about Yu (a letter, being played by a woman) travelling to the person to whom it is sent. This is a magical, beautiful script. I believe it will be a lovely short.

I've just had one of those mornings where I looked for 1 music video on You Tube & ended up reliving my teens. I was always a huge music fan (not always good music granted) but after my brother Stephen saved me from my bad taste (I think the day I asked my Mam to take me to a Chesney Hawkes concert in City Hall he felt something needed to be done) and introduced me to 'The Clash' my taste improved (somewhat) & it was out with the pop & in with 'The Cure', 'The Lemonheads' and many other bands that started with 'The'. One band I got into was Irish band 'The Pale', I used to wander around incessantly listening to their album 'Here's one we made earlier' on my yellow Sony walkman (I know, cool, right?)

I also blame The Pale for my short lived shoplifting stint, well them & Eva (last name witheld cause she'd mangle me if I said it) who peer pressured me into robbing something. Of course I had to have The Hot Press magazine with 'The Pale' on the front cover, pity it was the old Hot Press which was about the length of The Irish Examiner & as thick as Vogue, I still remember folding it in three shoving it down the front of my pants & trying to walk nonchalantly out of the little corner shop- I'm not saying I should be commended for my criminal behaviour but anyone who remembers the size of that magazine will be maybe a little impressed! Anyway just to clarify I never stole anything again & threw an extra pround (of my own money) in the basket at mass that Sunday!!

Where was I? Oh yes The Pale! So my new found love of The Pale brought me to The Lark by The Lee circa 1993- for those of you not old enough to remember The Lark by the Lee (fuck you!) it was a free outdoor gig held in the Lee Fields (before they discovered it was a big bog that actually wasn't suitable to hold gigs, well that & the questionable characters that would inevitably show up to a free outdoor gig, you should of seen "Beat on the Street", scobe heaven). Anyway off us group of 13 year olds trotted making the yearly pilgrimage from Ballincollig into the straight road (it's a longer walk than you'd ever expect) to see The Pale & whoever else was playing (probably Big Bag of Sticks & The Soul Masters), when we happened upon a camper van full of Hare Krishna's giving out free stuff- (prayer cards to be precise but what the hell we were 13 & they were free). Of course we got chatting to them (again we were 13 with raging hormones & a serious thing for men with shaved heads) when somewhere the rumour started that they were 'The Pale'. Now I knew what The Pale looked like (or so I thought) & 2 of them had shaved heads so they must have been them! Happily we hung out in the camper van chatting with "The Pale" when my older brother happened to be passing with his friends, I stuck my head out of the van & shouted "Hey, we're hanging out with The Pale", my brother came over to investigate & consequently dragged me out of the van informing me of how much of an idiot I was (ahh bless). I must stress The Hare's were perfectly friendly & were probably just amused at our stupidity but I tell ya what after that day I always made sure they really were "The Band" before I got into another strange van!

While watching VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time last night, it got to Jimi Hendrix at Number 6. They were playing his track Purple Haze while giving the blurb on him, when I turned to my boyfriend and said "I didn't know Jimi Hendrix was gay". With an exhausted look and a strained sigh he looked at me and said "What" (this isn't the first time I've interrupted something he was watching with my pearls of wisdom)! "Excuse me while I kiss this guy", I explained "I didn't know he was gay".

Now I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time someone has mistaken the lyric "Excuse me while I kiss the sky" for "Excuse me while I kiss this guy" but it probably didn't take most people till they were 30 years old to figure it out. What can I say, I don't have enough Jimi Hendrix in my life, sorry Jimi fans... This one's for you!

I Know, I know, it's been way too long & you probably don't even bother checking if I have updated anymore. Noooooo please come back, I'll change I swear, it's not you, it's definitely me. I could give you the speech about how busy I am and never have time to update but that would be rubbish because even though I am busy I can always take 5 mins to check in & say howdy. Sorry, sorry, sorry, I am the worst. But seen as 80% of my life is made up of work, when I remember this blog I don't have anything remotely entertaining to talk about... so I might aswell talk about work!!
At the mo I am as always flat out with my work at the fabulous RedFM, lots of exciting things coming up so busy working away in the background like a doozer getting the station imaging up to scratch.

Besides that I'm currently in a production of Oscar Wilde's "Lady Windermere's Fan" at the Everyman Palace Theatre. It's running every night (except Sun 23rd) until Saturday 29th Jan. I have a small role but am loving every minute of it, all the cast are great fun to work with and the costumes, hair & sets are top class!! And so far I haven't tripped over my very long & very big skirt (which was a regular occurence in dress rehearsals)! But you should come along & check it out for yourselves, it really is a great play & God knows we could all do with an escape from the real life drama at the moment. Hell of an amount of acting required there... my Nan would be proud!!

Forget Sunscreen, if I could give you one tip for the future BACKING UP would be it!! Managed to lose almost 5 years worth of work this week. My Mac (and me) had the mother of all meltdowns, not a pretty sight, either one! So take it from me if you don't have an external hard drive... get one... it is worth the few quid to save your sanity.

I think I've come out the other side now though and have regained my sanity... now where'd I leave the tissue boxes for my feet!

...a holy disgrace. Again I have neglected this blog. I really have no excuse for it. I'm the same on twitter, I'll go through phases of constantly tweeting then suddenly not feel like sharing anything, yeah I'm kinda weird sometimes, but then who isn't? Any-who I'm back in a sharing mood. So for whoever's willing to listen, thanks of course, and here goes...

I suppose what a lot of people don't know about me is in my spare time away from radio, I'm an actress. I used to do quite a bit as a kid right up until I was about 16. Then I discovered drink and boys and it all went to pot. But just over 2 years ago I rediscovered my love for all things dramatic (my Mother would tell you I never lost that) and did a lot of training over the past 2 years in Cork, Dublin and London, while trying to get as much experience as possible. I can't say I've been steadily acting as everyone knows it's not that easy and it's the privileged few who can make a full time career from it. But I have been enjoying every bit of it, well maybe not every bit of it, the moments where you don't get a part or get a part then get it taken from you at the last minute as directors decide to "go a different direction" can be disheartening and just before every audition my boyfriend without fail gets a call from me asking him to remind me "why do I want to put myself through this again". It is of course because I love acting and while the most nerve wracking experience, it's also the most thrilling. So while most of my friends are getting married and having babies, I've gone backwards and decided to embark on a new journey of my own. A scary, non-reliable, time consuming, insecure journey... and I LOVE IT!!!!

So watch this space for more ramblings on my journey into the great unknown

Just back from "The Brother" at the Everyman Palace Theatre. What a show! Absolutely brilliant. Starring Eamon Morrissey, based on the works of Flann O'Brien. I was hooked from start to finish as he recounted tales ranging from the bizarre to the truly bizarre, each one as entertaining as the last. I was so delighted by the whole thing I found myself clapping like a baby seal and nodding and grinning enthusiastically at the 2 elderly gentlemen sat next to me, an act they found highly amusing!!

So if you're looking for something to do this week I highly recommend having your funny bone tickled at this one!

Underground Films are looking for a 14-16 year old girl to play the lead role in their upcoming film ‘The Christening’.

The film will be directed by Cork native Oonagh Kearney and is part of the Irish Film Board’s Signatures Scheme.

‘The Christening’ will be shot in Cork and London this summer.

Auditions are taking place this coming Saturday, 15th May, in Cork City.

BOB's Back!

So while blow drying my hair the other evening, I suddenly froze at the image that was reflected in the mirror from behind me. Just at that moment my boyfriend walked into the room, saw the terror on my face and got quite panicked himself, I think he may have thought I was in the process of being silently electrocuted. I may aswell have been, because what I witnessed was a vision that brought me right back to being 10 years of age, scared shitless and having to sleep with the lights on for more than a year...TWIN PEAKS!! The tv show that robbed me of my innocence and gave me my irrational fear of forests.

Yes, 10 years of age was a little too young to be watching such a show, but I was a mature kid, I thought I could handle it. Which is exactly what i said when my Dad caught me watching it and told me to get to bed. "No dad, I'll be fine, I can handle it". Bless his soul, he knew how stubborn I was, so instead he watched it with me (a very sweet exercise he repeated when I insisted on watching "Silence of the Lambs" the following year), pointing out "it's not real" everytime I threw the cushion over my face. After about the 10th time I did this he had enough and marched me up to bed. But would I learn, would I 'eck... I snuck down every Monday night for the next few weeks and watched from the crack in the doorway, then proceeded to give myself away by howling for the rest of the night that "BOB" was at the end of my bed waiting to pounce!

As well as giving me constant nightmares, meeting Laura Palmer was the recurring one, I also developed as I mentioned a fear of forests, or really just any cluster of trees, convinced I could see shadows of red velvet curtains and imagining midgets talking backwards and doing funny little dances behind them. Then there was the theme music. Sat at home in my bedroom many years later I again had the "frozen" moment when I heard the theme song of my night terrors coming from my brothers room. I knocked at his door and stood there sobbing trying to get the words "turn off the music" out. He very kindly did and never played it again, at least not without checking I was in a 5 mile radius, for fear of his sister having another meltdown!
Over the years I managed to overcome the night terrors and even ate the occasional piece of blueberry pie,I didn't think every firelog had a message for me, I could even watch Kyle McClachlan in Sex & The City without cowering in a corner... Laura Palmer's dad- not so much. I managed to live alone for a full year without having to call my Mam once, screaming "BOB'S TRYING TO KILL ME".

I did have occasional moments, mainly when my boyfriend though it was hilarious to pretend to speak backwards or a moment when we first moved in together and I was telling him one night of my childhood fear, after we finished speaking I went to brush my teeth and left the bathroom door open, when he appeared (in all innocence) behind me in the mirror and I burst into uncrontrollable tears. And that moment last year when I thought I was ready to watch it again but the vision of the opening credits brought on a near panic attack. But all in all I thought I was over it.
That was until a couple of weeks ago I had a random nightmare about BOB. I started to get the heebie jeebies and was wondering why I was suddenly regressing then that fateful night as I blow-dried my hair my dream came out... there it was... in the reflection of the mirror, on the TV behind me... TWIN PEAKS 20TH ANNIVERSARY DVD EDITION!!
So for fear of this thing gripping me again and the possibility of driving my boyfriend away, by screaming "BOB" too many times in my sleep, or by waking him to walk me to the bathroom in the middle of the night (it was just that one time after the BOB nightmare... so far)... I'm gonna do it, i'm gonna watch it, from start to finish, no cushions or doors to protect me.

Although... maybe I'll just start by googling BOB and see how that goes!! Think I'll hang on to one cushion, just in case!

By the way while explaing to my Mam last week that I was having BOB nightmares again, she impressed me, yet made me laugh when she exclaimed "If I get my hands on that David Lynch"... watch your back Lynchy, Patsy's out for ya!

Stones in his Pockets

Went to see "Stones in his Pockets" last night at the Everyman Palace. Great show! It was such a giggle from start to finish and the acting was superb. It stars Simon Delaney, he of "Bachelors Walk" & more recently "Zonad fame". It only runs until Saturday, I'd highly recommend if you're looking for something to do over the next couple of nights. Beware though I actually had jaw ache from laughing so much.

A Smashing Pumpkin that is. Billy Corgan has announced he is holding open auditions for a new bassist and keyboard player with the band. Following bassist Ginger Polley's decision to leave The SP's, Billy released this statement:
"Although I am heartbroken that Ginger is leaving the group, I really respect her decision to put her family first. I appreciate everything that she has contributed to The Smashing Pumpkins, and I'm proud of her for being such a great musician and friend. We were lucky enough to find drummer Mike Byrne through an open audition process, so why not open the doors again to anyone who might be interested for the bass or keyboard position. As you can see from our past and present, age, race, or a person's background is not an issue. Everyone is truly welcome to audition.”

... And I want it back! As I opened the tabloid newspaper there she was, my arch nemesis, Kirsten Dunst (cue pursed lips,squinty eyes and head tik). She may have a glittering career and earn millions of dollars per movie but what Ms.Dunst doesn't know is...I've been having a very secret and very one-sided war with the actress for many years now.

It all started back in 1993. A Wednesday afternoon, about 4.30pm,like every other kid in Ireland I was watching my usual daily dose of "The Den" with Zig, Zag and Ray. That day they introduced a guest, she was a casting director and she was on a mission, to find the next big thing for Neil Jordan's new movie. They wanted an 11/12 year old girl to star in a big budget movie all about vampires. I still remember jumping up from our blue & cream swirly designed rug- (I was 11 watching The Den, the floor is the best seat in the house and blue & cream swirly designed rug's were all the rage)- and screaming for my Mam. She of course came running no doubt thinking the urgency of my bellow suggested I had either, A.Received a Hit/Kick/Dead Arm/All of the above, from one of my brothers (and usually given after I had dished out the first blow) or B. The Wind HAD actually changed and my eyes were now permanantly rolled and I was stuck forever in smart-ass pose. She was relieved to discover it was none of these things. I frantically explained the siutation and told her we need to find the best picture of me to send in. This you might think was an easy task. Let me remind you, it was 1993, I was 11 and let's just say, was still retaining some puppy fat. Out came the shoe boxes filled with photos and it was down to business. Of course I had no idea at this stage in my life that casting directors don't want to see a photo of you in your best shell tracksuit winning the "Little Miss" contest on your Haven holiday to Wales (oh yes I did)! I did my weekly acting classes but this was Ireland, early 90's, a "headshot" was something some young fella up north died from and a "showreel" was some move Peggy McTaggart taught us in Irish Dancing lessons. So armed with a photo of me in my favourite White Bermudas, with my sailor themed cropped t-shirt, standing in the garden on a glorious day with the sun casting a halo-like effect around my head due to the frizzy mess that was my hair, and a hand written letter explaining how I heard about the role on my favourite TV show, (I also made sure to add in how lucky they were to have met Zig & Zag-well they were), sealed it all with a kiss - I refrained from actually writing S.W.A.L.K on the back of it as I did with all other correspondence, which at that time in my life included letters to pen pals, cousin in Dublin, Zig & Zag and Stock/Aiken/Waterman telling them they should definitely sign me to be on the next Mini Pops album,(*crosses fingers) Any day now!! -and what happened next is anyones guess. The door bell could of rang & I may have ran out to play with my besties Amy Johnny and Val Wheels, the latest episode of Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles could have come on, I could have been distracted by a Hit/Kick/Dead Arm/All of the above, from one of my brothers- who knows, all I know is the letter that could have kick started my career never got sent. The next year and there was Kirsten Dunst appearing with Tom Cruise & Brad Pitt in Neil Jordan's Interview With a Vampire- I watched with envy, my 11 year old conscience screaming "IT COULD HAVE BEEN YOU" over and over. Of course who's to say whether the casting director would have even called me back, although let's face it, it was a stellar letter and who could ignore the obvious star quality of that chubby cheeked 11 year old in her bermudas and sailor t-shirt!
So to this day, every time I see Kirsten Dunst starring in a new movie or gracing another magazine cover that same 11 year old appears and reminds me "IT COULD HAVE BEEN YOU"!!
I returned to acting a couple of years ago, do ya reckon Neil Jordan would give me another chance???

Road Trip!!

Just took my Princess on her first trip to Dublin. My Princess is my car by the way. She's a Toyota Starlet and I swear she lives! She's like my very own Herbie, I talk to her regularly, I apologise to her for the CRAPPY roads she has to drive over every day and I compliment her when she gets me somewhere safe. She's been in my family for a very long time so there's a lot of sentimentality attached to her but she's also one of the greatest cars in the world, I swear she'll outlive us all.
Anywho off we took to Dublin Monday after work and then drove back last night, leaving Dublin at 11pm. Here's some things I learned on my road trip:

1.Always go pee when you make a stop, even if you don't need to then, you will about 4 minutes down the road and there will be no more places to stop.
2.Diet Coke is not a good drink on road trips, see point 1.

3. Seeing a sign for a place called "Kill" results in much amusement and a little terror imagining a town with lots of "Tom's" sitting on walls in "I shot J.R T-shirts".

4. The night-time toll man is a little creepy- going both ways.
5. There really are no good stations to tune into after you lose RedFM, seriously.
6. The only show worth a listen was "Larry Gogan's Golden Hour" which is now re-using the old skool jingles..."Oldies will remember..." "Larry plays your Golden memories...."
7. David Gray's Babylon is now considered a "Golden Oldie", bet he's pleased with that.
8. Slight panic when I wonder, am I now considered such a thing.

9. Not enough people seem to know how to dim their headlights.
10. Or say thank you if you pull in for them cause their obnoxiously driving on top of you in their "look at me" jeeps they can't drive properly. Do you really have 10 kids to fit in there?

11. I need to get me a CD player for the car, tape player has started eating tapes.12. The new bypass is great but seems to have forgotten to bring the institution that is "Josephine's" with it.
13. It's inevitable I will at some point start singing "Everybody's Talking" from Midnight Cowboy.
14. I will remember what an unbelievable movie it is & remind myself to watch "Midnight Cowboy" again soon, then forget when i'm looking for something to watch at the weekend.

15. Talking to yourself in the car is far more entertaining in different accents.

16. The imaginary interview with Jonathan Ross goes great.
17. I'm always the guest.

18. Passing out a lorry never gets less scary.
19. For some reason I insist on making eek sounds aloud until I have passed said lorry.

20. The last 40km's is the longest part of the whole journey!!

If you don't know who Dave is check out my earlier post "Go F*** Yourself". Before I go on I must clear up one very important matter, for fear of legal action being taken, Dave is in fact 5'10". In my defense I did say approx after I wrote 5'8". But apologies Dave, every inch counts of course!! He also mailed to inform me of his very own Bootcamp class which he's starting up. First he tortures me then he emails me complaining I got my facts wrong and to plug his new venture, shameless! But he's bigger than me (by 6 very important inches) plus he assures me I'll see him again soon, he even added his own "Den Den Dens", so plug I shall do! He's got his new classes starting in Carrigaline and you can find out all the info on www.rebelbootcamp.ie

Dave has assured me it's not going to be as full on as (and I quote) "My Special treat I had for you lot", Treat??? I'd hate to have seen what Valentines Day had in store for your Mrs!!

But yes Dave secretly I did have fun, in between the near vommitting and passing out that is. If you wanna tone and get fit then this is definitely the way to go. Keep an ear out to RedFM in the coming weeks aswell for some Bootcamp places up for grabs and more from DAVE...den den dennnnn!

... is exactly what I wanted to scream at my bootcamp instructor every minute last week. So the story is as follows.
5 Weeks ago I returned to Bootcamp, twice a week, outdoor training, cardio & toning mainly. I had done 2 8 week sessions last year so i thought I knew what to expect. Firstly bootcamp must be like childbirth, because I conveniently never remember being in such physical pain for 7 days straight, seriously I was walking like a 90 year old with piles. Anyway a couple of weeks into it all was going well. I could run without collapsing against the fence and lunges & squats now only made me want to rip one eye out not both, progress! Then last week our trainer Mark had a surprise for us, what it was nobody knew, we soon found out! It came in the 5'8 (approx), fatigue clothed form of DAVE... DAVE, I feel like his name should be followed with a doomed "den den dennnnn". Fresh from the front line in Afghanistan Dave was our surprise, there to put us through our paces of a real bootcamp. He immediately started by roaring orders at us, this in itself made me want to retreat to a corner, curl up in the foetal position and sob, but on I soldiered. When I lost my hearing in one ear I did not speak up. Have you not seen GI Jane??? He would of screamed somethiing like "WHAT ARE YOU SOME SORT OF GIRL (ehh yes), DOWN AND GIVE ME 60, I SAID EAT MUDDDD".

Then it came time for group games. Let me get one thing straight, I am not a team player, I do not like team building excersises, it's not that I don't like meeting new people, I am just crap at them, I AM the weakest link. I was happy to be a post in Rounders in PE class, I couldn't catch or couldn't bat, I was good at standing there. 12 years has made no difference, if anything things have gotten worse. So our first task as a team was to drag a tyre the length of the court, around the cone and back, simples I hear you say in your best Meerkat impression. Simples my arse, Firstly remember the fact I cannot run, I run like an overweight 10 year old, awkward flailing of arms included. So the sheer panic of coming last made me completely miss the fact that I had managed somehow to get the tyre around the cone and was now dragging that with me. I got back to my team and tried to avoid eye contact with anyone, while also trying to avoid collapsing. So because I had decided to go first (not the brightest idea) I had now secured our position of last. We got the chance to make it up when it came to another group excercise which involved a lot of crawling on our knees. Boy did I crawl, I was like a turtle on acid, there was no stopping me, f**k the ripped knees and elbows I was gonna regain my dignity! After we won this one I was back in the group, pats on the back all round, or maybe that was relief at the hour finishing and knowing they would never have to be on a team with my sorry ass again. How wrong they were. Wednesday and DAVE...den den dennn... is back... this is not good! Again he puts us through our paces and it's back to group games. I can almost feel people moving away from me. Eventually I'm on a team, they really had to choice. This time it's an obstacle course, run around the cones and crawl under the man-made obstacle, simples I once again thought, i'm a dab hand at the crawling. I protested when it seemed like I would have to go first but the rest were having none of it, "fine" I thought, "you have been warned". Oh yes we also had a backpack with sandbags in it and a plastic gun to run with. I got off to a flying start, by the time we got around the first obstacle I was in second place... "I'm gonna do this I thought, I'm not gonna come last, I'm the queen of the wooorr...." Disaster... as I hit the deck and prepared to crawl at lighning speed under the next obstacle, I didn't get down low enough, my backpack caught the bin liners being used and I managed to bring the whole obstacle down on top of myself. I lay there motionless as people ran to get me out
"just leave me here I thought", I could almost hear adagio for strings playing as the rescue mission was taking place. Of course with me under the obstacle the few behind me took full advantage and ran around me. By the time I got back the other teams 2nd person was nearly done. Again there was the avoiding eye contact and moans and groans from my team-mates. I had done it again, we came last and it was all my fault. Feeling like the heavy breather in Hey Arnold I walked away tail well and truly between my legs. It's back to regular bootcamp tonight (I hope)and I for one cannot wait. If they ever decide on a remake of Private Benjamin, I'm their woman, there won't be much acting needed :(

... I read this book last year and honestly didn't stop laughing from cover to cover. I gave it to my Mum & a few friends this Christmas, I had to share the laugh and I just got feedback from them all saying the same thing, they loved it! So if you're stuck for a read pick it up. I found it in the travel section in Waterstones- but be warned this book can cause serious outburts of laughter, reading it in public could result in many strange & sympathetic looks. After almost eight days entombed in the rubble of a building which collapsed around him, a limp body in a dusty yellow top is pulled free into the night air.

Suddenly, his arms shoot out and his face breaks into the widest smile. Kiki sees his mum. He is safe.

It is a moment of pure elation.

Rescue workers in turn stretch out their arms.

WOWZAS... What just happened??? 2009??? It's over?? Already?? Holy sportsocks batman that year went waaayyy too fast, I know I know we say it every year but seriously that was just ridiculous, is it cause I'm nearing the end of my 20's that the universe has decided to f*** with me even more by speeding up time? Or maybe i just spent most of last year focusing on what I wasn't doing and trying to make too much happen in a short space of time instead of stopping and saying "oh hello 2009, let's be friends". So this year let's start off on the right foot, "Hello 2010, nice to meet you, I'm looking forward to spending time with you now please don't f*** with me, stay the full year". I have a feeling I was duped out of a few months last year, maybe I did a rumplestilskin on it. Although come to think of it, I'm blaming the vertigo, yes I was kilt with it for at least half of 2009 (who knew it wasn't only aul wans get it) and believe me, when the world doesn't stay still for one minute, time goes fast. This year I shall be suitably ignoring it, or maybe I'll just get really drunk every day and try to counteract the effects!!

... Friday night was the 2nd Annual Jingle Bell Ball and what a night we had. First off thanks to everyone for coming along and supporting Barnardos Childrens Charity, we raised over €7000, thank you thank you thank you! And thank you for being such loyal RedFM listeners over the past year. It was pretty much a whole day event this year with our Gold Tickets winners coming to the station at 9am Friday morning for an Acoustic session from the Frank & Walters, who as always were great, they played one of my fave tracks "Tony Cochrane", what a way to start a days work, I could get used to it. SO after we fed and watered the Franks & our first group of listeners then came our afternoon set, which was from Cork band eile JoDavino, they too were fab and our listeners definitely approved. After getting a little work done through all that excitement it was time to get ready for the main event. Off we trotted to The Pavillion at 7 to get the venue ready & take our places. I was stationed at the Brown Thomas gift area, yes we gave free gifts on the way in, sorry boys, they were just for the girls! As soon as everyone was inside we got things rolling. The brilliant Mako kicked off the night, they won the support slot through Colm O'Sullivan's Transmission and the Red Rooster& they did not disappoint, ever the professionals! That was followed by JoDavino who played a blinder once again. Then I got the phone call! What everyone didn't know was who the surprise act was. I was summoned to the side of the stage where I met up with Jay Zed and the Blarney MC aka KC & Lenny, they donned their afro wigs, santa beards, fur coats & drawn on six packs (fair play to Sheena for donating her Mac Eyeliner for that one). I was costumeless... I just looked like me, but it didn't really matter at that stage cause all I could focus on were the 400 people, screaming for BellX1 but who were about to get us bunch of chancers instead, for the length of a song at least. KC & Lenny lashed back the beers for some dutch courage, I was on the water for the night so I lashed back the riverrock, then Lenny turned to me & said "I have to pee", "me too" I said but it was too late to run anywhere at that stage. KC was on the verge of passing out next to me which was only making me worse. It should be noted I practically bullied the boys into doing this, they weren't too keen but I thought it was a great idea, up until that moment when I wished I'd kept my mouth shut, but no going back now. Dave Mac Annouces..."Give it up for Jay Zed, The Blarney MC & Alicia Outta Keyes". Thankfully our amazing listeners were thrilled and knew exactly what was going on when they heard the names. On we came, the beats to "Empire State of Mind" kicked in, Lenny rapped, I sang, Kc rapped, I sang and the crowd cheered. What a laugh. I probably had the easiest part cause everyone sang along with my chorus (love ye), but the boys did a savage job of their raps and within 2 mins it was all over... On came the band of the night BellX1, they were unreal as always, I was delighted to hear oldies like "Snakes & Snakes" & "Alphabet Soup" in there. Paul Noonan was as always very pleasing on the eye for all the ladies, and some men obvo. He managed to get himself a cheap thrill in the form of a "testicular grope" from one very enthusiastic fan, but come off it Paul, you knew what you were up to the minute you stood out so close to the crowd, this is Cork, we go for it :)They really did rock it up, KC & Lenny came back and gave away a signed BellX1 guitar, announced how much everyone raised for Barnardos (thank you), everyone partied the night away to the ledge-bag Stevie G & it was all over for another year. All in all a great success and I have to say it topped last years JBB. Bellx1 made the night and a huge thank you to them for doing the gig. Of course my highlight was singing to 400 people...but I would never get carried away & get ideas above my station, ya gotta keep it real... next stop the grammy's!!!!

Had an audition for an advert yesterday and you'll never guess who the director is... It's only Hugh "Lamb" O Connor. Remember Lamb, 1986 Liam Neeson movie they ran at least once a year on RTE, which no doubt brought the ol bible bashers out in force as it portrayed a priest (Neeson) in not too traditional a light. But O'Connor was the lil kid. I just about stopped myself saying "I loved you in Lamb", I mean he has gone on to do lots of other great movies, so I'm sure he wouldn't of appreciated it. I think it's about time RTE dusted off the VHS player and gave us another viewing of Lamb...

I gotta admit the Late Late Toy Show friday was great. Tubs really go into it and at least someone who was able to connect with the kids unlike the Plank who just sounded like he was giving out to them everytime he spoke. My Worst Fear
Two men got a nasty surprise as they were driving their van - when a massive white snake slithered across their windscreen.The 4-foot-long albino reptile emerged from the bonnet of James Denton and Morne Aspeling's van as they drove back to their office.
The pair, telephone engineers from Jersey, pulled over and beat a hasty retreat from the vehicle. It took me a moment to realise it was real,' said Denton. 'When its tongue flicked out, we both made a pretty sharp exit from the van.'
They called for help, and the snake was captured and taken to an animal shelter where it is being looked after.
The snake is thought to have been either a corn snake or a milk snake - both non-venomous species - which may have crawled into the van's bonnet for warmth, but been startled when the engine was started.
It's believed that it was probably an escaped pet - and the shelter are trying to reunite it with its former owner.

... I just watched an interview with the director of "Couples Retreat", the new Vince Vaughan movie, Peter Billingsley and you'll never in a million years guess who he is!
